Peachy Fuzz Fizze

There’s a lovely place in Santa Cruz, CA called 515 Kitchen & Cocktails with a comfy-cozy bar upstairs mixing divine drinks. And forgetting for a moment about the “pandemic quarantine thing”, the tight-knit energy on that 2nd floor was equally as delicious. So once upon a trip there several moons ago, I had the most brilliantly simple flavor combination in a cocktail, but I’ll admit that I can not remember the name of, nor recall the exact ingredients. Still, I can not forget the wonderful blending of sweet peach with black walnut bitter notes as part of its signature “je ne sais quoi”.

Sometimes memories can be triggered in the oddest places. While walking in the beverage aisle in my local Boulder Whole Foods the other day, I spied IZZE’s Sparkling Peach soda, and it reminded of Santa Cruz. By no means is this recipe, the one I had at 515 Kitchen & Cocktails (and maybe not even a pale imitation of it), but in a pinch, this quickie spirit-soda-bitters take on it is easy, light & yummy!

Peachy Fuzz Fizze Ingredients

Peachy Fuzz Fizze Instructions

  • PICK A GLASS
Our 12 oz. Old Fashioned glasses are perfect for this one.

  • FILL WITH ICE
I always try to have proper store bought cocktail ice on hand in my freezer— it just tastes better, and the clear ice presents so much nicer when you have guests over. If you can find it, Reddy Ice® is my favorite of the nationally distributed brands in terms of shape, texture & appearance.

  • MIX AWAY
Add the whiskey & bitters to your ice-filled glass, and stir thoroughly. Top off with the sparkling peach mixer, but try NOT to stir too much after the mixer is in— it will only break the carbonation, losing the cocktail’s effervescence.

  • GARNISH IT
Fuh-get-about-it…this is quickie cocktail. Just mix it & sip it people!
