Best Chai Mixer (in the World)

Wow, that’s a BIG statement! I mean, really!?!? The best chai mixer in the world? Totally ridiculous, unsubstantiated, unfounded, and pretty much any other “un” you can think of. Yes, yes, that’s all probably an overstatement, but I will tell you that I am, and have been a crazy chai fanatic for about a decade and a half. On average I drink 350+ chai mixers per year x 15 years is well over 5,000 various mixes of chai while living in what is arguably the chai capital of the United States. Yup, Coloradans (particularly Boulderites & Denverites) drink an exorbitant amount of chai per capita here on the Front Range.

On a side note: if you’ve never had the chance to visit the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, it is surely a must-see experience on any trip to here. And even though you will not be able to get this particular chai mix, their selection of loose tea blends, small plates & entrées is absolutely wonderful. An hour spent inside the incredible Himalayan hand-carved building or just outside on their Boulder Creek-side patio is a priceless moment of often needed rejuvenation for us all.

What’s So Great About This Chai Mixer?

Unlike those milky-white coffeehouse chai lattes… “Once you’ve tasted dark, you’ll know it hits the mark!” Get ready to waken your taste buds with a sucker punch of such complexity, that this tea party in a glass may render you unconscious with one swing of its cayenne, fresh ginger, black pepper, cardamom and other masala spices. Probably sacrilege to mix two friendly, but competing Colorado chai company’s mixers together— this is exactly what I’m doing, and with good reason…

Sanctuary™ Chai’s Spicy Honey blend offers an extra bold cayenne explosion perfectly balanced with a pop of pure sweet luscious honey, while Bhakti® Chai’s Unsweetened blend brings fresh ginger & black pepper spices to the table. Often times different & misaligned flavor profiles will cancel each other out, or worse, cat fight into a hairy ball of flavor ugliness, but the Sanctuary & Bhakti blend perfectly into a lightly sweet symphony to the palette with only 9g of low glycemic honey sugar in this 12oz. serving— for comparison, a 12 oz. Starbucks Chai Latte has a mouth-smackingly cloy 31.5g of processed sugar.

Best Chai Mixer Recipe
(Serve Iced or Hot)

3 oz. Sanctuary™ Spicy Honey Chai
5 oz. Bhakti® Unsweetened Chai (the 3:5 Sanctuary:Bhakti ratio is spot on for me, but as I always say, play around with ratios so you love it too)
4 oz. Milk (my preference is actually Rice, Coconut, Hemp or other unsweetened alternative Milk, and in that order)

NOTE: Don’t live in a place that carries these chai brands locally? Both are available for online delivery through the above links.
